OPENING AN ACCOUNT
1. Complete a membership application. Click here to print out the application form.
2. Pay a security deposit equal to the highest bill in the last 12 months or as determined by the Cooperative if the service is new. The deposit will be held until an acceptable credit history has been established or until a final bill is rendered. An acceptable credit history may be accomplished by prompt payment of 12 consecutive monthly bills.
It is important to remember that when a member-owner does not pay the electric bill, the remaining cooperative member-owners pay the losses incurred. The intent of collecting a member-owners deposit is to reduce these losses.
3. As recipients of federal assistance, Southwest Iowa REC is required to identify and document as accurately as possible the racial/ethnic data of the eligible population in our service area. We would appreciate you filling out this Data Collection Form and returning it to us within two weeks. If you have any questions please contact our offices.
