Safe Electricity®

Southwest Iowa REC makes every effort for safety excellence. Ongoing training of safe practices for all personnel is a priority for our cooperative, and something we take seriously when educating our members, children and the community. 

Safe Electricity® is a nationally recognized, multi-media public awareness program designed to compliment the existing safety education activities of utilities and educators. The program provides information through radio and television public service announcements, news releases and articles, as well as its comprehensive website dedicated to promoting electrical safety and efficiency.

Safe Electricity® hosts "The Electric Universe," and "Louie's Space." Geared for teachers and students in elementary, middle and high schools, these sites explore the science and history of electricity, safety information, games, communication, conservation, energy efficiency and careers related to electricity. This site also contains safety information for adults.
